You can't control your job search (but you CAN control THIS)

WELCOME to my newsletter, Reader! I've dubbed it From My Keyboard to Your Screen. That's FMKTYS for short. Catchy, isn't it? I send it out once a week to share info about resume writing, job searching, careers, cover letters, LinkedIn, and the like, usually with a link to my blog or other resources for additional reading. Let's get into it...

Today's post goes out to everyone who's been job searching for a while but is still waiting for a job offer. I know how frustrating that is - I have been there! You think you are doing all the right things... but now, you're second-guessing yourself. Is there something you're doing... wrong? Is there something you could be doing better?

I'm here to say, don't second-guess. In every job search, there are factors you can control, and factors you cannot. It's really important to direct your focus to the areas that you CAN control and not waste brain space thinking about all the ones you can't.

Easier said than done? Maybe. I wrote this blog post as a pep talk for anyone who's in that space right now. Stay the course, my friend. Keep bringing your best to the table. Focus on that which you can control. Your time is coming.

IN OTHER NEWS - I just finished up a certification course where I learned SO MUCH about LinkedIn and I can't wait to share it all with my clients. LinkedIn really is an important link in almost anyone's job search strategy, and I can help you get your profile into tip-top shape so it sparkles and attracts the attention of aaaaallll those recruiters who are also on LinkedIn, looking for candidates. Reply to this message if you'd like to learn more!

Until next time-

My very best,

Meg Martin, SHRM-SCP, NCOPE, CPCC

Hi, Reader! Did you know that LinkedIn profiles with an All-Star designation are 40x(!) more likely to be found in searches? All-Star profiles are 100% complete and have at least 50 connections. How can you tell if yours is an All-Star profile? LinkedIn shows member their own private "profile meter" (it's under Me > View Profile > Suggested For You). No one else can see your meter. Everyone starts off as a beginner. Once you add all the recommended sections, you’ll receive an All-star profile...
